Yelena Bakman joined Taylor Blessey LLP in April 2017 as an associate with the firm. She defends physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases.
Prior to joining Taylor Blessey, Ms. Bakman’s practice involved civil litigation, federal and state criminal defense, and administrative defense with a focus on healthcare fraud and licensure defense for physicians, dentists, and other healthcare providers. Ms. Bakman has experience defending clients before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Ms. Bakman earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2013. During law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Deirdre H. Hill in the L.A. Superior Court and the Honorable Diane A. Gross at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Additionally, she served as an extern in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California. After law school, Ms. Bakman was a Fellow with the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Ms. Bakman attended U.C. Berkeley and received her B.A. with Honors in Economics and a Minor in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. She is fluent in Russian.
Ms. Bakman is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Central District of California and Eastern District of California. She is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
